Admissions Information

The school does not seek out any particular type of child, and in fact, looks for the advantage of variety.

If you have friends interested in placing a child in The New School, please have them contact the office for an application form and to arrange a visit. We accept children in our primary program who are between the ages of two years, eight months and six years. Toddlers must be 20 months old at the opening of school in September. Children from other schools are sometimes accepted as transfer students to our elementary program if the learning style of the child is compatible with our Montessori community.

The Process:

For new students, including siblings:

Interested parents should contact the school office for literature and an application. Parents then contact the school to schedule a classroom observation. For a child to be in the process and added to a waiting list, if there is one, a completed application must be returned to the school office along with the non-refundable application fee. After observing, parents inform the school if they wish to continue the admissions process. The school will send enrollment forms. Once enrollments are opened to new students and all appropriate records on your child are received and evaluated, you will be notified of the acceptance of your child into the program. You must return a completed enrollment form, which is a contract with the school, to the school office with the non-refundable enrollment fee by the due date in order to secure a place for your child.

Students are accepted into The New School after consideration of several factors:

For returning students:

Re-enrollment forms for The New School must be completed and returned along with the non-refundable enrollment fee. At the end of the enrollment period for returning students, the school begins the process of offering enrolling to new students.

For new siblings:

If you have younger children who will be entering The New School, give official notice to the office. The procedure requires completed application and enrollment forms and fees. Siblings are given priority for admission to the school.
