The New School of Lancaster

Welcome from the Head of the School

Welcome to The New School of Lancaster.  We hope that this electronic portal to our school gives you, the Reader, some sense of the many ways our community represents a “dynamic partnership of children, parents, teachers, and administrators”.  We are pleased and proud to be accredited by The American Montessori Society and licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education as a private academic school.

This September, begins our 23rd year of working with children and their families to “provide an outstanding Montessori education”.  A passionate group of parents and teachers started this adventure 22 years ago and with an enrollment of over 250 students we are still deeply committed to our original mission.  Our community ranges from adults who have been with us for the entire time to 21-month-old toddlers, just beginning their educational journeys.  We like to think that we are all both teachers and learners in this community, that both children and adults are engaged in a continuous process of unfolding.  Our experience tells us that the happiest and healthiest people look forward to growing, changing, and expanding their skills as they continue to explore our diverse and surprising world.

We are dedicated to academic excellence and we are certain that supporting growth of the whole child, emotionally, intellectually, socially, and spiritually nourishes the ground in which that excellence can flourish.  We treasure the interactions among our students from toddlers to early teens, certain that each one of us, both younger and older, benefits from the relationships that are fostered in this special home of our own.

Thank you for exploring our website and finding out more about the unique learning environment we offer.  I invite you to visit our school, as well, so that you can observe firsthand the power of a Montessori education for each and every child.  Each new visitor, student, or parent challenges us to fresh responses.  These challenges stimulate our continuous growth and improvement as individuals and as a community of learners.

I look forward to meeting you soon.
