Peaceful Pinwheels at The New School of Lancaster
October 05, 2011
Students at The New School of Lancaster will be creating pinwheels for peace as part of the Pinwheels for Peace program, a worldwide event celebrating the International Day of Peace on September 21. On this day, pinwheels decorated with images and infused with thoughts of peace line the front walk and greet students and other members of the community as they approach the building.
This event is a public reminder that The New School of Lancaster is an institution committed to working for a peaceful world. This event is also a useful vehicle with which
to have conversations with students about the meaning of global, community-wide and personal peace.
One side of the pinwheel will be used for writing the students’ thoughts about peace and the other side will be used for drawing, painting and collage to visually express their
feelings on peace. For more information about this world-wide event, please visit www.pinwheelsforpeace.com.
Inspired by the vision of Dr. Maria Montessori and driven by our commitment to the whole child, The New School of Lancaster has served children and their families since 1990. Our Montessori school seeks to build a diverse community where children can pursue the interdisciplinary attainment of academic success, physical health and spiritual well-being.
The New School of Lancaster is fully accredited by The American Montessori Society.
