Ways to help support The New School

“The work of volunteers impacts on all our lives, even if we are not aware of it.”

~ Anthony Worrall-Thompson

As a volunteer you are a priceless part of The New School of Lancaster community. We value your time, talents, wisdom, insights, creativity, and hard work. Volunteers have created – and continue to bring – fun-filled events and programs to the young and not-so-young members of our community. Volunteering is an easy way to meet other parents who have chosen The New School of Lancaster for their children’s education. Through shared experiences you’ll gain friendships and memories that will last far beyond your time at our school. We have a wide array of volunteer opportunities: choose one that meets your schedule and interests.

Volunteer Opportunities

Fruit and Veggie Tasting

Once a month, the New School Family Association presents a Fruit and Veggie Tasting to introduce a new and possibly unusual fruit or veggie to our students.  We aim to have two pairs of Parent Volunteers visit each classroom in 15 minute intervals.  We present information about the selection and answer questions, which can be delightful and often hysterical.  Volunteers are needed for the first Wednesday of each month (second Wednesday in January) for about 2.5 hours right after primary carline.  Whether you are available one or multiple mornings, any level of participation is welcome.  This is a fun volunteer gig and a truly great opportunity for parents to participate in all of our classrooms, primary to middle, and get to know the students and teachers.  Clearances are not required.  Sign up here!  Reach out to Courtney Whipple with any questions.

Pizza Day Pilot Fundraiser

After the success of NSFA’s October 2018 Pizza Day Fundraiser, we are now piloting this program on a monthly basis through the end of the year.  Registration is closed, but volunteers are always needed to execute this fundraiser by delivering a pizza lunch direct to our students’ classrooms.  Lunches occur the second Tuesday of each month.  Sign up here!  Our aim in piloting this year is to create a manageable, regular event that is fun for students and parents and easy to unroll each month.  We welcome feedback to inform how we might adjust and grow this offering for next year.  Please contact Erica Goppold with any questions.
