Dear Parents of Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Graders,

Does your child/(ren) like to run?  Have school spirit? Want to be part of the best NSoL sports team ever?  If so, they can join the NSoL cross-country team! No experience or talent required, just a desire to support athletics at the NSoL, exercise, and have tons of fun.

After a very successful founding in 2016, the NSoL Cross-Country Team for boys and girls will begin its third season this August with meets extending from early September to mid-October.  The coaches are Gwen Eberly and Mark Olson, both parents of NSoL students and cross-country runners. Sixth graders can be fully-fledged members of the team, but students must be in 7th or 8th grade to participate in meets.

Practices will begin the week before school starts, on Monday, August 20, and take place each week on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:00-4:30 PM. There will be four meets, one on a Friday afternoon and three on Saturdays.  No equipment required!  Uniforms will be provided.  As a member of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA), the NSoL must require that all student-athletes complete the PIAA Comprehensive Initial Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation.  (The good news is that pediatricians are used to this form since it’s required of all Lancaster County public school student-athletes.) It is available here.

Any questions?  Feel free to contact Coach  Gwen Eberly, Coach Mark Olson, or Manager Maria Mitchell.  Please let us know if your child is at all interested.  We are also looking for parent volunteers to help with practice and transportation to meets.  If you can contribute even a few hours, please let Gwen, Mark, or Maria know.

Join the NSoL XC Team! Join the spirit! Join the fun!
