The New School Montessori
The mission of New School Montessori is to facilitate the unfolding of each child’s unique potential through an outstanding education in a peaceful atmosphere of respect and acceptance among children and adults. We enable children to meet future challenges and encourage a love of learning, independent thinking, social responsibility, and individuality.
Spanning two campuses, New School Montessori offers a non-denominational Montessori education in a respectful, and caring environment. Our Lancaster City Campus is located in a light-filled, historic space in Lancaster City. Our students range from toddlers to middle school age, coming from all parts of Lancaster County and beyond. Starting Fall 2022, we will be opening an Infant Program! Students enjoy our natural playground which was specifically designed to mimic nature. Close to home, our brand new Manheim Township Campus is situated on the spacious grounds of St. Thomas’s Episcopal Church. Our students range from ages birth to kindergarten and enjoy the quiet setting with scenic views and an abundance of playspace.
For over 30 years, we have filled a niche in the community for families who seek an excellent, non-denominational, educational opportunity in a child-centered, nurturing environment. We opened in September 1990 with 64 students. Today we enroll over 215 students, infants through 8th grade, across two campuses. This extraordinary growth has been possible because of the enthusiasm, dedication, trust, positive attitude, and hard work of the faculty and staff, parents, and the Board of Trustees. Their ongoing commitment enables our school to flourish. We continue to serve the needs of our community, enabling our students access to Montessori excellence.
A Montessori education is based in the research and writings of Dr. Maria Montessori, medical doctor, educator, and advocate for peace.

Board of Trustees
The primary focus for the Board of Trustees of New School Montessori is to appoint and oversee The Head of School, who manages the academic and business affairs of the school. The Board is also charged to set overall policy that supports the advancement and Mission of the school.
Making Excellence Inclusive is a guiding principle for access, student success, and high-quality learning. NSM continues to strive to integrate diversity, equity, and educational quality into our mission and daily operations.
“What the New School provides is a wonderful environment where children are able to become active learners. The added bonus is the level of respect they learn for their peers, their teachers and the environment. We couldn’t find that combination anywhere else.”
