The New School of Lancaster

The mission of  New School Montessori is to facilitate the unfolding of each child’s unique potential through an outstanding Montessori education that enables a child to meet future challenges, and that encourages a love of learning, independent thinking, social responsibility and individuality in a peaceful atmosphere of respect and acceptance among children and adults.

New School Montessori offers an outstanding Montessori education, in a light-filled, historic space in Lancaster City. Our students range from toddlers to middle school age, coming from all parts of Lancaster County and beyond. For almost 30 years, we have filled a niche in the community for families who seek an excellent, non-denominational, educational opportunity in a child-centered, respectful, and caring environment.

We opened in September 1990 with 64 students. Today we enroll 190 students, toddlers through 8th grade. This extraordinary growth has been possible because of the enthusiasm, dedication, trust, positive attitude, and hard work of the faculty and staff, parents, and the Board of Trustees. Their ongoing commitment enables our school to flourish. We continue to serve the needs of our community, enabling our students access to montessori excellence.

Discovering Us

“What the New School provides is a wonderful environment where children are able to become active learners. The added bonus is the level of respect they learn for their peers, their teachers and the environment. We couldn’t find that combination anywhere else.”
