Planned Giving

A bequest—a gift in your will—is a simple and convenient way to create a legacy and provide enduring support for The New School of Lancaster (DBA New School Montessori). Your bequest can be a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate.

Unrestricted bequests give The New School the most flexibility, allowing fund to be allocated wherever the need is greatest. It also takes into consideration possible changes in programs that may necessitate a use that cannot be anticipated at the time of the gift.

Restricted bequests allow you to designate your support to a special program or purpose that reflects your interests.

For estate planning purposes, friends of the school may consider the language below for use in their wills. However, to ensure that all legal requirements are met, we recommend that your attorney or tax advisor review the specific language in your will.

Suggested bequest wording:

Percentage of estate for unrestricted purposes “I give to The New School of Lancaster, a not-for-profit-organization located in Lancaster Penn., ________ percent (%) of the remainder of my estate for its general charitable purposes.”

Specific amount for unrestricted purposes “I give to The New School of Lancaster , a not-for-profit-organization located in Lancaster, Penn., the sum of $__________________ in cash or ________ shares of ____________________ stock to be used for its general charitable purposes.”

Please contact the Advancement Office at The New School Montessori to discuss the suggested bequest wording for restricted purposes to ensure that your wishes will be followed properly.
